Travel Planning Lists and Vaccinations

Travel Planning Lists

Official Documents for Travel Abroad

While this tried and true travel article does a great job describing the travel documents you need, I can go one step better on how to carry your documents. They recommend a thin, light, waterproof plastic folder that you tucked into your carry-on luggage. There are too many occasions where even your carryon luggage might be out of sight for a moment. The safest way to carry our travel documents was my SCOTTeVEST. I could literally wear my travel documents on flights and bus trips, the safest possible place.

Vaccinations

It is very important to make sure that you have your travel vaccinations far in advance. Some vaccination protocols take six months. Here is the list that we used [insert pdf]. Check current CDC standards here.

All of the required travel vaccinations will not be covered by health insurance. Private travel vaccination clinics can be pricey. Check out your loca

l public health service to see if they offer travel vaccinations. We use the San Francisco Public Health service travel vaccination clinic, which was the most affordable choice.
